Mission
AASK inspires change in the lives of children in foster care by promoting and sustaining permanent families. We identify and train competent, caring foster care and adoptive parents, provide education and support services, and nurture stable homes for foster kids. AASK has placed over 3,400 foster children with permanent adoptive families since 1973.
Services
AASK, also known as Adopt A Special Kid, identifies and trains competent, caring, foster care and adoptive parents in order to establish stable homes for foster kids. AASK provides community-building and support services for adoptive families and foster youth including: our award-winning Camp Always, the Dorothy & Robert DeBolt Scholarships, and other mental health and support groups,. AASK's foster care and adoption services are available free of charge. AASK specializes in forming successful families for foster youth regardless of race, ethnicity, marital status, sexual orientation, or economic status.
About AASK (Adopt a Special Kid)
AASK was founded by nationally celebrated parents Dorothy and Robert DeBolt who adopted 14 special needs children and were the subject of the Academy award-winning documentary "Who are the DeBolts and where did they get 19 kids?" AASK serves children and families all over the State of California with primary focus on its home county of Alameda.
