Who We Are

The Alameda County Foster Youth Alliance is a coalition of organizations serving youth in times of crisis and transition.

Mission Statement

A coalition of community based organizations and public agencies, the Foster Youth Alliance seeks to assure the well being and empowerment of foster and probation youth by engaging in strategic advocacy to develop resources, provide for continuous improvement of programs, and maintain accountability in publicly funded service systems.

FYA’s Work

The core function of the Alameda County Foster Youth Alliance (FYA) is to centralize advocacy efforts on behalf of the county’s population of current and former foster and probation youth. In addition, FYA provides a comprehensive array of services to its member agencies, including training, service coordination, networking opportunities, consultation on strategic planning and positioning, and the analysis and interpretation of relevant federal, state, and local policy. FYA also conducts grant funded project work intended to increase access to mental health services, develop the capacity of older youth to engage in meaningful advocacy, and leverage our web presence to provide for community education and continuous program improvement.

FYA’s Member Agencies

FYA’s over 30 member agencies work with current and former foster and probation youth in a full spectrum of domains and program settings. FYA agencies provide support in areas including housing, mental health, education, employment, mentorship, and permanency.

FYA maintains a searchable database of all our member’s services, programs and contact info.
