Overnight Camp for Children of Incarcerated Parents

- If you work with children of incarcerated parents between the ages of 8 and 10, please consider referring  youth to Camp Avary's upcoming one week overnight camp.
Project Avary is dedicated to improving life outcomes for children with a parent in prison or jail. Children join the Avary community during elementary school and are encouraged to remain involved into young adulthood.

To qualify for the program children must:

  • Have a parent currently or recently incarcerated in prison or jail,

  • Be between ages 8 and 10,

  • Live in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin or San Francisco County.

Referral interviews take 15-20 minutes, and Camp Avary is accepting referrals from now until June 15th.  Parents/caregivers are encouraged to initiate the enrollment process, as are teachers, counselors, or social workers.  All referrals must include an interview with a non-family member who has direct knowledge of the child's behavior and needs.  Please note that spaces fill quickly and some years the camp fills much sooner than June.

Please contact Zoevina Pariani-Delgado at zoevina@projectavary.org, (415) 382-8799 with any questions or to refer a child.
