Join the Homeless Youth Capacity Building Project in discovering how the process of “vocationalizing” will enable your organization to make an important contribution to closing the gap between youth and jobs. This free training is designed for organizations that are not employment programs serving current and former foster youth or youth who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.
“Vocationalizing” is not about adding employment services to what you do. It is about giving your existing services and your environment a new dimension that will make your organization part of the process that will help at-risk youth become successful in the world of work. This workshop will give you creative ideas for simple yet powerful ways to use what you already do to contribute to employment motivation, job search skills and knowledge about jobs and careers, without becoming an employment program. You’ll also learn important best practices for finding and partnering with employment services in your community so you can refer youth to them for employment specific services. Don’t miss this opportunity to play your part in reducing the high levels of unemployment in the population you serve.
This workshop will be led by Larry Robbin, a widely regarded expert on delivering effective services to youth at risk of being homeless, and current homeless and foster youth. Light refreshments will be provided. Please feel free to bring a bag lunch. Space is limited; to register for this free training, go to the website www.cahomelessyouth.org and look for this event.
